Dr. Darren Adamson, Former President - Argosy University, Southern California CampusDr. Darren Adamson is the former President of Argosy University, Southern California Campus. There he worked with students, faculty and staff from the Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County and Inland Empire locations. His higher education career began in 1989 as an adjunct faculty member. Since then, Dr. Adamson has served as a Department Chair, Director of Academic Affairs, VP/Campus Director and Campus President in multiple higher education institutions. He is currently serving as the Chief Clinical Officer for Alpine Treatment Services. He holds a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University and an undergraduate degree from Weber State University.
Graeme Armstrong, Assistant Professor - Upper Iowa University
Dr. Armstrong is Assistant Professor and Masters of Higher Education Administration Coordinator at UIU. Teaching in F2F, Hybrid and Online modalities to support the graduate program he is responsible for curriculum, faculty development and student advising. Dr. Armstrong works primarily with non-traditional students as a teacher, advisor, administrator and mentor.
Patricia Bassett, Director of Online Learning - Palm Beach Atlantic University
Currently serving as the Director of Online Learning and an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Palm Beach Atlantic University, Pat Bassett has been actively involved in online education since 1999. An innovator for technology integration at PBA since 2002, she has been instrumental in the development and expansion of the Center for Teaching Excellence that houses both her department and that of faculty development. She is an administrator with faculty rank, a combination and blending of responsibilities that has helped to create an environment where traditional instruction is being supplemented with Web-enhanced activity and distance offerings are increasing exponentially.
Jeff Borden, Senior Director of Teaching and Learning – Pearson eCollege
Jeff Borden has his M.A in Rhetoric/Human Communication and is currently a doctoral student (ABD) in Education Leadership at Argosy University in Denver. Jeff has created, taught, and administered several upper and lower division Communication and Computer courses for several Universities and Community Colleges around the country since 1998. Additionally, he has assisted faculty, administrators, and trainers from diverse fields in conceptualizing and designing both on-ground and online courses as well as given direction to schools for total program success. Most recently, Jeff has spoken to the U.S. Congress’ Education Committee and keynoted at a 12,000 audience member conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Jodi Campbell, Graduate Research Assistant – Saint Leo University, School of Business
Jodi Campbell is currently an MBA student at Saint Leo University, Florida, and also works as a Graduate Research Assistant in the School of Business. She gained her Bachelors degree at University of Warwick, England. She was also one of the coordinators for the first International Business Conference held at Saint Leo University in November 2009.
Vanessa Cox, Director of Online Learning – University of Dallas, Graduate School of Business
Vanessa Cox manages all operational aspects of the online delivery method and blended learning for the MBA, MS and MM programs, including the functional areas of IT Administration, Course Development, Contract Review and Program Communication. Vanessa has over 20 years of professional experience in progressive business development and program management. Her educational background includes an undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Marketing and an MBA from the University of Dallas in Information Assurance. Vanessa has presented at AOM, CISSE and CITE, and is a recipient of the Pearson CiTE Excellence in Online Administration (eOA) award.
Jon Eads, Director of Assessment - Kaplan Higher Education Campuses
Jon Eads, PhD. has been working in online education for 8 years as an instructor, course developer, and administrator. Currently Dr. Eads is the Director of Assessment for Kaplan Higher Education Campuses and is responsible managing the institution’s assessment strategy.
Dr. Catherine Flynn, Professor - Kaplan University
Dr. Catherine Flynn holds a doctorate in management and master’s in English. She has been with Kaplan University since April 2002 and serves as a Professor in the School of Business and Management.
Sharri Godard, Education and Training Specialist - Elluminate, Inc.
As an Education and Training Specialist at Elluminate, Sharri is an expert in her role as an online teacher trainer and content developer. Using knowledge gained from sixteen years of educational experiences, she has assisted in developing and delivering a cutting edge, top-rated online educational program for the progressive virtual teacher called the Teacher Certification Program. She became one of the first virtual teachers in the state of Florida and assisted in growing the program by becoming the school’s Elluminate teacher trainer, as well as teaching grades K-5. Sharri holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and is a Florida Certified Educator.
Kimberly Harwell, Reporting Analyst and Consultant - Pearson eCollege
Supporting implementation of the Enterprise Reporting product by performing in-depth needs analysis with Pearson eCollege partners and creating and recommending a detailed implementation approach, Kim also trains clients to use the various Enterprise Reporting tools. Previously, Kim was Product Manager for the Learning Outcome Manager and Program Intelligence Manager products. Prior to Pearson eCollege, Kim was an Administrator for an online college where her focus was student retention. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Washington University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado Denver.
Romana Hughes, Assistant Director - Texas Christian University, Koehler Center for Teaching Excellence
Romana (Romy) Hughes is the Assistant Director of TCU’s Koehler Center for Teaching Excellence. A former college instructor who has taught online and F2F, she has brought engaging, active-learning lesson design to collegiate, lecture-based classrooms. Through multiple presentations, conferences, and workshops, Hughes promotes engaging learning models and technology integration to improve both online and F2F classroom instruction. Her primary duties are to support faculty with teaching strategies and learning technology direction, to provide instructional design assistance for web-enhanced and distance learning along with new technologies being used in the classroom, and to develop and support teaching excellence at TCU.
Rick Hubbard, Media Specialist - Palm Beach Atlantic University
Rick Hubbard -M.A. Rick has a Master of Arts degree in Instructional Technology/Media: e-Learning from the University of Central Florida. Rick does media and instructional design for the Office of Online Learning at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He assists faculty with the integration of media objects into Pearson LearningStudio, as well as assisting with instructional design for courses which faculty members are moving from face-to-face to an online environment. He assists with the training faculty in the use of software related to course development. He is also an adjunct professor, teaching Introduction to Technology.
Larry Jansen, Online UW Coordinator – University of Wyoming
Larry Jansen is the instructional designer and program coordinator of the Online UW program at the University of Wyoming’s Outreach School. Encouraging and supporting UW faculty’s integration of Elluminate/ClassLive Pro into their online teaching has been one goal of UW Outreach’s faculty development program, Technology Instructional Enhancements (TIE). Larry joined UW Outreach Credit Programs in 2000, after the school began its partnership with eCollege in 1998. Larry earned his M.S. in Education from the UW Department of Adult Learning and Technology.
Pamela Kachka, Academic Trainer and Consultant – Pearson eCollege
Pamela Kachka has been a teacher for 11 1/2 years. Working as a professional developer for 6 1/2 years, she has presented to other teachers/instructors and presented at conferences throughout. Pamela earned her BA cum laude in Russian Language & History from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master's in Curriculum & Pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Denver. She’s also worked as a Curriculum Technology Specialist for 6 years. In that position, Pamela worked with teachers to take the curriculum, content & standards and helped integrate technology.
Dr. Rob Kadel, Academic Trainer and Consultant – Pearson eCollege
Dr. Kadel has presented on multiple topics in academic technology and educational research over the past nine years. He presented 'Preparing Video Lectures for Online Courses: Practical Techniques for Leveraging Popular Webcasting and Recording Tools' at CiTE 2009, and has presented on the evaluation of educational technology programs at conferences for organizations such as the International Society for Technology in Education, the American Evaluation Association, and the United Kingdom Evaluation Society. Rob Kadel, Ph.D. is an adjunct instructor of sociology at the University of Colorado Denver. He has been researching and teaching about educational technology initiatives for the past nine years.
Jeff King, Director - Texas Christian University, Koehler Center for Teaching Excellence
Jeff King is Director of the Koehler Center for Teaching Excellence at Texas Christian University. A faculty developer since 1994, he has research interests & writings in learning-centered practice, brain-compatible teaching/learning, and helping faculty move from a teaching paradigm to the learning paradigm. In addition to learning outcomes, other interests are the multitasking virus and sensible application of neuroscience research to educational practice.
Tina Knebel, Technical Assistant - Palm Beach Atlantic University
Tina Knebel serves as the Technical Assistant in the Center for Teaching Excellence and Office of Online Learning at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL. She serves as an online instructor for ClassLivePro to faculty who wish to be certified to teach 100% online courses. Over seventy instructors have completed her six-week online course in the past year. Through clear instruction, she is able to challenge the most proficient Pearson LearningStudio users while alleviating the fears of the most reserved, novice Pearson LearningStudio user. Tina provides support and training to continually improve proficiency with ClassLive Pro and Pearson LearningStudio.
Justin Levy, General Manager – NewMarketingLabs
A national speaker on social media, Justin Levy is General Manager of New Marketing Labs, a new media marketing agency as well home to the Inbound Marketing Summit events, Inbound Marketing Bootcamps and a host of other educational events. In this role Justin helps businesses navigate the unknown seas of new media marketing including how to use social media tools, blogs, community platforms, and listening tools to drive business value. Justin regularly speaks to groups and at events about his successes in driving revenue using new media.
Joel Lundstrom, Professor - Barton County Community College
Dr. Joel Lundstrom is currently a professor at Barton Community College at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He has a PhD from Kansas State University in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. He has taught in a variety of instructional formats and has taught over 100 online courses.
Richard Novak, Associate Vice President for Continuous Education and Distance Learning - Rutgers University Division of Continuing Studies
Dr. Richard Novak currently serves as Associate Vice President for Continuous Education and Distance Learning at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and adjunct Graduate faculty member for two different Rutgers schools. He directs RutgersOnline, the centralized home for all Rutgers University online instruction. Over 3000 students enroll each semester in fully online credit courses and over 35,000 students enroll annually in web-enhanced courses. Rutgers University is a multi-campus, public research University that is both a land-grant institution and the state University as well as a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities.
Nathan Maxwell, Instructional Design Assistant - Palm Beach Atlantic University
Nathan Maxwell, Ph. D. Nathan Maxwell is an instructional design assistant in the Office of Online Learning at PBA. He assists faculty in the development of online courses and provides support for faculty in the use of technology for classroom instruction. While his academic, presentation, and teaching background is in the literary-critical study of the Hebrew Bible, he has served extensively in university technology support settings. Before coming to PBA, he served as director of technology at a small extension campus in Corpus Christi, Texas. Originally from Chugiak, Alaska, Nathan came to Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic University in 2009.

Dr. Joel Olson has a BS in Biology, a MA in Philosophy of Religion, and a Ph.D. in Education from Colorado State University. Joel is a Department Chair with Kaplan University’s School of Business and Management.
Janice Orcutt, Dean of Academic Affairs - University of Fairfax
Janice Orcutt, Ed.S. is Dean of Academic Affairs at University of Fairfax, a graduate school focused on the discipline of Information Security. A doctoral student at NovaSoutheastern University, Ms. Orcutt has a primary interest in research related to faculty performance and development. Ms. Orcutt has been involved in higher education for 15 years, and been involved in the online industry for 30 years.
Dr. Robert Robertson, Director of Graduate Business Studies - Saint Leo University
Dr. Robert W Robertson is the Director of Graduate Business Studies at Saint Leo University Florida. Most recently, he served as Dean of Business and Executive Director, Center for Sustainable Urban Futures at a School in Kazakhstan (2005-2006). Dr Robertson has lectured at universities in China, Brazil, Canada and Central Asia and he is an invited speaker at conferences world-wide. Academically, he holds a Doctorate degree from Stirling University, Scotland (Management and Organization); Master of Studies in Law, Vermont Law School; Master of Public Administration, Dalhousie University; and, Master of Art, Eastern Kentucky University.
Dr. Nancy Rubin, Education and Training - Learning Objects, Inc.
Dr. Nancy Rubin is an experienced educator, instructional designer/developer, and social media expert. Nancy has been involved in the field of eLearning for over ten years; teaching fully online classes, as the Manager of Instructional Technology Support Services for a large university, and, as a Senior Level Instructional Designer/Developer at a for-profit, online university. Mark Sarver, CEO – EduKan
Dr. Mark Sarver is the CEO of EduKan, the online education consortium for the six western community colleges in Kansas. Prior to EduKan, he has served as a vice president for Advancement and Enrollment. Dr. Sarver has taught courses in leadership, organizational behavior, accounting, international business, franchise development, marketing and management. Dr. Sarver’s experience in higher education strategy and assessment spans virtually all aspects of institutional management from admissions and marketing, to financial analysis, to program and course design and assessment. His experience as an academic leader crosses publicly funded, private not-for-profit and private for-profit institutions.
Barbara Schultz, Associate Executive Director - Upper Iowa University
Ms. Schultz is the Associate Executive Director of the Center for Distance Education at UIU, and has worked successfully with non-traditional distance learning students for over 10 years. Ms. Schultz works with all aspects of the online and independent study programs including operations, faculty hiring, marketing, advertising and military partnerships.

Mark is the Executive Director of the Online Education Alliance, whose motto is “online student retention through instructor retention” and he advises dissertation students at several universities. He graduated from Oxford University’s online program and has also completed further online studies at Harvard, UC Berkeley and Stanford.
Tracy Sleep, Student Services Concierge - Iowa Community College Online Consortium
Tracy Sleep works with the seven partner colleges of the Iowa Community College Online Consortium. As Student Services Concierge, Tracy provides consistent and current information to ICCOC students, assists students with general questions, coordinates common resources and processes for student services, and provides data and reports to assist each college with ensuring student success and retention. Tracy joined the Consortium in August 2008. Previously, Tracy was Financial Aid Director at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. She has also worked in Residential Life, Financial Aid and as Assistant Registrar at Northwest Missouri State University where she received her M.B.A. Degree.
Jane Snare, Coordinator of Instructional Development - Clarkson College
Jane has been the Coordinator of Instructional Development at Clarkson College's Center for Teaching Excellence since its inception in 2008. Her work focuses on faculty development, online course assessments, eCollege administration, and information reporting to academic programs. Prior to this, she taught in Clarkson's Health Care Business programs for eight years, served as Training Director for a healthcare software company, and worked as a District Manager for General Motors. She holds a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology and a Post-Master's certificate in eLearning.
Chris Swanson, Coordinator of Institutional Effectiveness and Quality Assurance - Clarkson College
Chris has been the Coordinator of Institutional Effectiveness and Quality Assurance at Clarkson College's Center for Teaching Excellence since April, 2008. Her work focuses on institutional data collection and analysis, online course assessments, LOM administration, and information reporting to academic and student services programs. Prior to this, she worked for three years as a Data Analyst at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She was employed for fourteen years in the IT field and taught history courses at Metropolitan Community College. She holds a MA in History and has done Ph.D. work in Public Administration.
John Thaeler, Director, Developmental Math Program - Weber State University
John’s childhood began in Nicaragua as the son of medical missionaries. After being homeschooled for several years, he moved to Pennsylvania for the rest of his pre-college education. Duke University was the source of an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and an MAT with a minor in math. Further graduate study followed at UNC (math), Wake Forest (physics), U of Utah (BA in meteorology) and Florida State (Ph.D in Mathematics Education). In between was a tour of duty with the Air Force as a meteorologist (5 years active duty, 21 years in the reserves - Lt. Colonel) and teaching at Central Carolina Technical Institute, Illinois State, and finally Weber State University in Ogden for the last 28 years as a member of the Math Department and the last three years as director of the Developmental Math Program. John has been happily married to Marcy for 41 years; they are the proud parents of two boys and three grandchildren.
Tom Thayer, Product Manager of Teaching Solutions – Pearson eCollege
Tom Thayer joined the Pearson eCollege team in 2008 as Product Manager for content interoperability. In 2009, Mr. Thayer was given additional duties as product manager for rich media and managed content. Prior to his experience with Pearson eCollege, he had twelve years of web and technology experience at H.P. and Agilent Technologies. Mr. Thayer studied Business Information Systems at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.
Hester Tinti-Kane, Director of Web Marketing- Pearson Learning Solutions
For the past two years, Hester has been a change agent for marketing at Pearson - coordinating the successful implementation of award-winning, search engine optimized websites, supervising the strategic planning, management and tracking of integrated online marketing programs and designing and analyzing impactful market research projects. She has been one of the primary driving forces behind propelling Pearson Learning Solutions’ products, services and marketing into the digital age. Hester is also an active member of the Boston Interactive Media Association (BIMA), the Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange (MITX), NEDMA (New England Direct Marketing Association) and the American Marketing Association.

Mr. Jeff Tyler holds a masters degree in systems management as well as a certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP). Jeff has been with Kaplan since November 2005.
Rick Tanski, Principal - Academy Online High School
Rick Tanski now serves as Principal of Academy Online High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado after coming to Academy District 20 in July 2005 as Assistant Principal at Pine Creek High School. Previously he was Assistant Principal at Falcon High School in Falcon District 49 in Falcon, Colorado. He also taught English and Technology in Lewis-Palmer District 38 and later was the Technology Coordinator for Lewis-Palmer High School and eventually became the Educational Systems Administrator for District 38 in Monument, Colorado. Mr. Tanski is currently the Western Committee Chairperson for iNACOL (the International Association for K-12 Online Learning). His Masters degree, from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, is in Educational Technology.

David is not only committed to applying solid instructional design methodologies to his current projects but also providing educators with valuable tools and strategies that promote student learning and success. David holds a Bachelors in Microbiology, Masters in Education, and is currently working on his Doctorate.
